{"id":"kia-ev6-2023","make":"Kia","model":"EV6","year":2023,"grade":"D","score":61,"recall_count":4,"critical_count":1,"active_advisory":true,"recalls":[{"campaign":"26V431000","component_short":"Electrical System","severity":"critical","park_outside":true,"over_the_air":false,"summary":"The high voltage battery cells may contain misaligned electrodes, which can lead to a fire while parked or driving.","remedy":"Owners are advised to park outside ... Dealers will replace the high voltage battery system assembly, free of charge."}]}

How the Safety Signal grade works

Every model-year starts at 100. Each open NHTSA recall subtracts points by severity: critical (fire risk, park-outside or do-not-drive) 15, high (loss of drive power, airbags, seat belts, steering, suspension, driveline) 8, moderate 6, minor (over-the-air software fixes) 3, with a floor of 35. A = 90 and up, B = 80, C = 70, D = 60, F below. It is a summary signal for comparison, not an official NHTSA rating, and it is recomputed on every refresh.
